My First Year Results at University – Why I’m Proud

Welcome to another blog post. Today’s post is all about my results for first year at university and why I am bloody proud, if I do say so myself.

For those of you who don’t know, I take Law with Politics at Bangor University, which is a degree I am really enjoying. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

I’m going to structure this by going through each module and sharing my results for each of the assignments, the weight and the overall marks, and then I will share my overall result for first year. I’ll then share why I am proud. Right, now let’s do it.

Britain: From Blitz to Brexit

Political History Blog – 30%

My result: 65 which is a 2:1.

Audio Visual Presentation – 30%

My result: I don’t actually know what I got in terms of a specific number but I got a B+ which is a high 2:1.

Exam – 40%

My result: 74 which is a 2:1.

Overall

70 which is a first.

Contract Law

Case Note Assignment – 40%

My result: 68 which is a 2:1.

Exam – 60%

My result: 65 which is a 2:1.

Overall

66 which is a 2:1.

Legal Skills

Multiple Choice Test – 40%

My result: 80 which is a first.

E-Moot Assignment – 60%

My result: 68 which is a 2:1.

Overall

73 which is a first.

Legal System of England and Wales

Essay – 40%

My result: 62 which is a 2:1.

Exam – 60%

My result: 74 which is a first.

Overall

69 which is a 2:1.

Power, Freedom and the State

Multiple Choice Tests – 60%

There were three tests to complete, and each one was worth 20%. I can’t remember what I got for each individual test just as a disclaimer.

My result: 85 which is a first.

Essay – 40%

My result: 68 which is a 2:1.

Overall

78 which is a first.

Public Law

Essay – 40%

My result: 80 which is a first.

Exam – 60%

My result: 68 which is a 2:1

Overall

73 which is a first.

Overall Grade in First Year

Overall, I got 71 which is a first! Like I mentioned before, I am so proud of myself. I am particularly proud of my Public Law essay grade. To get an 80 is something I never thought would be possible. I am also proud of my Contract Law grade as I struggled with it a lot. I was expecting a 2:2 or a third or something. To get a mid 2:1 is something that makes me very happy.

I also wanted to pop in and just say I am not posting this to show off and I hope I haven’t come across that way. I just wanted to share something I’m proud of considering what I have been through to get here. I always say grades do not define you, and it is totally okay to be proud of getting a 2:2. Everyone has different goals and that’s okay!
