An Updated Evening Routine

Not too long ago, I posted my updated morning routine. I think having routines creates a sense of purpose and productivity and so I also have a routine for my evenings. I will say I don’t always stick to this as much as I would like to. I like watching football and midweek games can sometimes muck this up, particularly when my team is playing. Still, I wanted to share this so without further ado, let’s get to it!

My evening routine always starts after I’ve had my dinner. I feel like this is a good place to start the routine rather than a specific time as it can vary what time I have dinner. That way, I don’t feel guilty about the routine starting late or anything like that.

Once I’ve had dinner, I like to do some more work. I’m much more productive in the evenings than I am in the mornings so this is when I do the bulk of my work. I always make sure to do work until about half past 7. This means I can get a fair bit done in this window of time.

At half past 7, I like to start my planning preparations. This is where I fill out my bullet journal spreads. These include my year in pixels, habit trackers etc. I also plan out the next day, writing any events and any tasks that need doing in my weekly spreads. After I’ve done this, I will write in my daily journal. I’ll write about my day, how I’m feeling etc. This all takes me about half an hour or so.

Once I’ve finished, I will then do work for another hour or so. Again, I am much more productive in the evenings. I don’t know why that is. Maybe it’s the cosy light and dark academia vibes I get.

Once I’ve done work for an hour, I will then start to wind down. One thing I have recently started to incorporate into my evening routine is doing bedtime yoga. I find this so beneficial to me. Then I will do my evening skincare, get my PJs on and watch TV for an hour. After that, I will take the time to read for a little while. I find reading is such a good way to wind down before you go to sleep.

I will then go to sleep!

And that’s it! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read this post and I will see you soon for another one!

Beth
