Blogmas Day 17: How to Migrate to a New Bullet Journal

Welcome to another blogmas post! Today I’m sharing the process involved with moving to a new bullet journal. It’s not as simple as just starting again, especially if you start a new bullet journal halfway through the year or in any month. I’m quite lucky that moving into a new bullet journal is happening at the beginning of the year for me as it is arguably easier. However, there are still things that need to be done and planned and I”m going to share that with you all! Let’s get to it.

You may be looking at the title and thinking “what does it mean to migrate to a new bullet journal?” I’ve already hinted at it but it means that you’re moving your bullet journal content from one notebook to another. This doesn’t just mean what you fill in each day, but the actual spreads themselves. I have a way of doing this that has continued to work really well for me and I’m going to share that with you all.

The very first thing that I do is make a spread. This can be in the current bullet journal or in a separate notebook. You want to create three sections. These are spreads to keep, spreads to dump, and new spreads.

Spreads to Keep

Spreads to Dump

New Spreads

Once this has been created, you need to get your current bullet journal. Keep this spread alongside you as you go through and look at each of your spreads. You’re going to add these to each group depending on your needs for the new bullet journal and what works best for you.

It should start to look like this!

Once you have gone through all of your spreads in your current journal and the migration spread is all filled in, you are now free to start planning your new bullet journal!

And that’s it! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read this post and I will see you soon for another one!

Beth
