Since the beginning of 2020, I have journaled every single day about my day. The difference it has made to my mental health, the way I seek clarity in life and also to remember those little moments is truly something I appreciate. I have never missed a day to the point that if I don’t have access to my daily journal because I’m away and haven’t brought it with me, I’ll write my entry into my phone and add it later. I’m now on my 8th volume, which I think shows how much I care about using it.
When people see the words daily journal, they probably think that I’m just writing about my day. Yes, there is an element of that but my daily journal is so much more. I’ll talk about how I’m feeling, I’ll use it to process something that’s on my mind, I use it to practice my lettering and to collage and play around with some gorgeous bits of stationery.
In today’s post, I’m going to share some previous spreads and talk about how I structure the pages. I will say now that the writing in the photos will be blurred out. Even on my instagram, I never share this journal because it is private. I do want to share how I do it though because it has helped me so much! Without further ado, let’s get to it!
Some Previous Examples of Some Spreads

As you can see, these are all rather different in nature. The second image is the one that is my most frequent way of journaling and now I’m going to share how I go about structuring these pages.
Structuring the Pages
Firstly, I always pick out a colour scheme. I always have these five in mind:
- green and brown
- purple
- blue
- orange and yellow
- pink and red
These are colour schemes that I have used since the very beginning and they work really well for me. I can’t see this changing.
The next thing I will do is pick three items of stationery to collage with. This could be things like vintage paper, stickers, washi tape and photos that I’ve printed out. This is my favourite part of the way I daily journal. It’s such a therapeutic activity for me.
Next, I’ll letter out the day and the date. I do this in different ways each spread depending on what I’m feeling. I’ll then letter out a song that I’ve been listening to a lot. I like doing this because it allows me to see what songs I was into at a particular moment in my life.
I’ll then note down any football games I want to remember, particularly Liverpool games. I’ll also note down other things too. Again, it all depends on what I’m feeling.
I will then of course write my entry!
And that’s it! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read this post and I will see you soon for another one!
Beth
