Make Coffee With Me!

Welcome to another blog post. Over the years, I have shared different ways of making drinks. I’ve done iced lattes, shaken espressos and matcha. Now I’m sharing how to make hot coffee using my coffee machine. I would like to stress now that I may not be doing this correctly. However, this way has always made coffee that tastes incredible and that’s all that matters.

Because this may be an incorrect way, I won’t be sharing this post with instruction vibes. Think of it as like you’re coming along for part of my day. With all that being said, let’s get to it!

So this is my setup. The first thing that I do, mainly because that’s what the machine says to do, is extract the coffee. I use ground coffee but I really want to get a grinder and use actual coffee beans instead.

I always weigh the amount of coffee I use. After a bit of trial and error, I find that 12g is the perfect amount. Of course, this is very much give or take.

I must apologise in advance but as you can tell, I am not the tidiest when it comes to making coffee. In fairness, I am this messy when it comes to my actual barista job. Anyway, once I’ve got the amount of coffee I need correct, I will tamp it down.

Once I’ve tamped the coffee, I extracted it. I didn’t want too much in there due to creating essentially what is a flat white. I also forgot to mention that I added a few pumps of vanilla syrup before extracting the coffee.

Once I’ve got my coffee ibuprofen the cup, I started to prepare the milk. I added enough to just go over the ridge where the pourer is. Now, I am not an expert when it comes to steaming milk (even though it’s literally my job) but this is what works best for me to get latte art.

If you happen to want to steam milk, you essentially need to create a whirlpool effect. It’s hard to see in the photo but that’s what I did until the milk was the required temperature. I don’t have a temperature gauge at home, so I base it on when I can’t hold the jug anymore.

Once the milk was done, you can see in the photo how silky it looks. That’s kind of what you want it to look like. To help with that, bang the jug a couple of times and swirl the coffee round. This helps to blend the foam together, adding to that silky effect!

I then poured the milk in and voila! It was really nice if I do say so myself!

And that’s it! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read this post and I will see you soon for another one!
