Welcome to another blogmas post!
As some of you are well aware of, I have been through countless exam seasons now. From GCSE’s to A-Levels, and an undergraduate degree to recently a master’s degree, I guess you could say I’ve seen it all.
Oh, and year 6 SAT’s. Hey, remember them?
My point is that I feel like I can give out some advice to those who may be struggling with exam season. I’ve got 4 that I would like to discuss with you all today so let’s get to it!

Get organised early with revision
Yes, you are actually going to have to revise I’m afraid. I know, I know. It’s one of the most tedious things you can do but I promise it will help.
Create a revision timetable as soon as you’re aware of the dates for your exams. This means you don’t have to worry about this when exam season starts. If you would like a blog post about this, let me know!
I’m sort of ashamed to admit that I didn’t discover the best way to revise until my final year of my undergraduate degree. I tried so many ways over the years. I created mind maps, flashcards, used resources like Quizlet, tried blurting etc. In the end, I discovered that practicing past questions, exams, exam techniques etc is what works best for me. This leads on to the next part!
Practice! Practice! Practice!
Practicing different past papers, questions, exams and techniques worked best for me. Now, I understand that this may not work for everyone. If you have a different way that you know works best for you, then obviously focus on that instead. This is something I have discussed before on this blog a little while ago so I won’t go into too much detail. Indeed, I’m not going to sit here and say you should do something if it doesn’t work for you. I’m merely talking from my own experiences!
Take Regular Breaks
I know it is tempting to keep going no matter what. However, this will lead to burnout. Burnout during exam season is something you do not want to have to deal with. Overdoing revision will not help in the slightest.
Focus on Self-Care
Take time to enjoy the things you like. Take time to look after your mind and your body. If you like to soak for a long time in bubble baths, do that. If you want to try a face mask or go for a solo coffee date, do it. You are allowed time for yourself!
And that’s it! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read this post and I will see you tomorrow for another one!
Beth
