Blogmas 2025: I’m Ranking My Work’s Christmas Drinks So You Don’t Have To

Hi. I’m Beth. I’ve been working at Costa Coffee for over three years now. I’ve seen different Christmas drinks come and go. I’ve tried the good, the bad, and the ugly.

This year, we have 8 drinks to rank from worst to best. Don’t get me wrong, there isn’t a drink that I don’t like. I think all of them this year are pretty good. There are just some that I prefer more than others. With all that being said, let’s get to it.

8) Mint Hot Chocolate

This is a very nice drink but it’s not something I gravitate towards if I’m choosing to have a drink. In terms of the hot chocolates, this is on the low end. Having said that, the sprinkles on top are absolutely stunning.

I also think this is a drink that can be hit and miss. If a barista accidentally puts in too much mint syrup, good luck. (Yes, I have been guilty of this too. I’m sorry.)

7) Caramel Nutcracker Hot Chocolate

You’ll come to realise very soon that the drinks I prefer involve coffee. I like a hot chocolate but I do find the added bonus of all of these different syrups means that some of these drinks are very sweet. The Caramel Nutcracker Hot Chocolate is no exception. It is very sweet but I do adore the coffee version which will make an appearance later.

6) Black Forest Hot Chocolate

I had a hard time picking between this and the next drink to feature. I would say that both of them are lush in terms of the hot chocolates we do. There’s something so warm and comforting about them. I know the Black Forest Hot Chocolate is popular with a lot of you because one year, the higher-ups decided not to bring it back and well… we had to bring it back.

5) Terry’s Chocolate Orange Hot Chocolate

This is my favourite hot chocolate. Whenever I have this, it brings all the cosy vibes that I love in a drink. The best part though is you get a free mini terry’s chocolate orange with the drink which is wonderful. This is a big recommend for me in terms of the hot chocolates.

4) Gingerbread Latte

An absolute classic this drink. The reason why it ranks a little lower in terms of the coffee drinks is because I’ve been drinking it for the last 10 years. I can’t remember a time when Costa didn’t do a gingerbread latte. It is lovely this drink though and you can’t beat the mini gingerbread that comes with it!

3) Caramel Nutcracker Latte

This is, in my opinion, superior to the hot chocolate version. The way it sits with the coffee is something that very much works for me. It’s also the prettiest drink we do in my opinion. The salted caramel drizzle on the light whip with the red and green sprinkles is stunning. It’s still not my favourite in this range though.

2) Butter Pecan Cookie Latte

This is a new drink for this year and I think it’s highly underrated. Yes, it’s very subtle but if you add a few extra pumps of the syrup, it’s beautiful. You can really taste the cookie within the syrup which I love and the biscuit crumbs on top are wonderful.

1) Caramel Nutcracker Iced Latte

Are we surprised that an iced latte made the top of the list? This is perfection. It works so so well as an iced drink and again looks absolutely stunning. I’m going to be sad when this leaves the menu at the end of the Christmas period. I just hope it returns again next year.

And that’s it! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read this post and I will see you tomorrow for another one!

Beth
