4 Reasons Why you Should Journal

I am someone that likes to journal everyday. I adore this time spent with myself, my thoughts and various pieces of stationery. Since I’ve started to journal every day in some capacity, I have noticed lots of benefits and therefore, have 4 reasons to share with you all why as to why you should journal.

Journaling can help you to achieve your goals

There’s a misconception out there that a journal is another word for a diary. When you journal, you’re only talking about your day and feelings and nothing else. Of course, you can use a journal for that but there are other things you can use it for too, including help with achieving your goals. You can write them down and help to keep track of them to ensure you achieve them.

Journaling can help you with remembering certain events

I love looking back at my previous journals and thinking about the events that have happened to me. It’s a chance to think of the highs and lows and remembering what I did on certain days. There’s actually evidence to suggest that journaling about certain events can actually help you with keeping memories better too!

Journaling can help you with your mental health

Journaling can help with your mental health in a couple of ways. Firstly, depending on how you journal, it can be very therapeutic too! Adding decorations and using different types of stationery can be very relaxing and help with anxiety. I can certainly vouch for that. Secondly, writing out your thoughts and feelings can also help with digesting and organising your brain which I really like.

There are so many ways to journal!

I’ve touched upon this briefly already but there are so many ways to journal! You can keep a diary, you can use a Bullet Journal, you can keep a dream journal, a food journal, a health journal and even a creative journal. The opportunities are endless!

And that’s it! Thank you for reading and I will see you soon for another blog post.

  1. I love journalling and currently write in The Five Minute Journal twice daily and also do creative journalling in a traveler’s notebook. This year, I’ve created an insert especially for the autumn where I’m documenting ticking things off my autumnal bucket list.
